Lighting in Historic Surroundings on Esplanaden

In close collaboration with the team behind Barlie, we have developed a tailored lighting plan for their new restaurant Bottega Barlito, located in a historic building from 1906 on Esplanaden.

The project takes its starting point in the original setting and draws inspiration from the grand Copenhagen restaurants of the early 1900s, with references such as high wall panels, dark wood, white tablecloths and marble details. As with their sister restaurant Barlie, the focus of the lighting design has been to support a sense of presence and atmosphere, with fixtures that work in harmony with the interior.

The lighting is built up in several layers. A track system with spotlights provides flexible general lighting throughout the restaurant. Above the bar, Sammode’s Quadratube pendant creates a modern contrast to the historic interior, while the Talbot Bankers Light table lamp from J. Adams & Co offers a reinterpretation of the classic banker’s lamp.

Along the walls and in the bathroom, the decorative Flume and Apex wall lights from J. Adams & Co are installed in a satin nickel finish, complementing the dark wooden panels.

At the back of the restaurant, where guests can continue the evening with a drink, the atmosphere becomes more intimate and lounge-like. The Quadratube pendant from Sammode returns above the bar counter, while art-deco inspired Molecola pendants from Il Fanale provide the general lighting in the space.
