SkLO is the Czech word for glass – a design studio founded in 2009 by the couple Karen Gilbert and Paul Pavlak, together with Pavel Hanousek. For Karen and Paul, SkLO was an opportunity to bring together their shared approach to craftsmanship, with Karen as an acclaimed artist and metalsmith and Paul as an architect. Pavel contributes with his experience in Czech glass tradition, which forms the foundation of SkLO with design and production of lighting and objects in handblown Czech glass and solid brass.

The company is based in Healdsburg, California and Prague, where their lamps and objects are also produced in close collaboration with local Czech glassblowers. The production is an important part of SkLO’s brand identity and ensures a close connection between design and craftsmanship.

SkLO works with the natural expression of materials, meaning that each design is unique, with the small variations that occur in handmade processes. The Czech glass tradition, which goes back several hundred years, is known for its vibrant colors, high quality and solid craftsmanship.

We have a selection of SkLO’s glass objects and lamps displayed in our showroom in Nordhavn, which can be viewed by appointment Monday to Friday from 9am to 4pm.
