Flexible Lighting for Charlottehaven in Østerbro

Charlottehaven in Østerbro has recently undergone a series of updates to its ground-floor facilities, including the reception and café area. As part of the project, Camilla A. Schmidt from CAS Light Solutions developed the design and placement of the lighting, working alongside interior designer Julie Simonsen. We supplied a lighting solution based on VIBIA’s flexible Plusminus system.

Plusminus is a versatile lighting system based on a textile belt with integrated wiring. The system allows for custom configurations and combinations of different fixtures, giving architects creative freedom to integrate lighting in new ways. It is well suited for spaces with concrete ceilings, where the number of available ceiling outlets may be limited.

One of the challenges of the project was the high ceiling and the desire to create lighting that worked in harmony with the bar counter. Here, the flexibility of the Plusminus system became an important part of the solution. The slim textile belts drop down from the ceiling, with lighting modules at their ends, creating a light, graphic expression that almost makes the lighting appear like a play of colours. Above the bar, a series of Plusminus Linear Low Glare profiles are combined with Plusminus Cone pendants in VIBIA’s muted red and green tones, complementing the colours and interior of the bar. In the window areas, the expression becomes more playful, with Plusminus Spotlights suspended from the textile belt at varying heights.

All Plusminus luminaires have been selected in VIBIA’s colour palette, supporting the overall expression of Charlottehaven. The remaining lighting in the project has been selected by Camilla A. Schmidt.
